Several years ago I attended the London Inquest of a friend who had took her own life while in hospital, suffering from terminal cancer. I went as support for her husband. Neither of us had ever been to an Inquest before and we both found it a very harrowing and confusing experience. There were no support volunteers and we were very much on our own. I felt particularly sorry for the nurse who came to give evidence as she was obviously traumatised.
When I heard that the CCSS were recruiting volunteers to support people at the Truro Corner’s Court, I was really enthused. I found the training days very helpful and am now happy to be doing a thoroughly worthwhile role.
